Chemical Peels: Ameliorating Your Skin Appearance

Do you ever realize that your skin’s appearance has become dull over a period of time and then you start wondering if you could go back in time and start looking as fresh as you did in teenage? Well, you can actually get that refreshed look by revealing the new, smooth and blemish-free skin. All you need is to get a chemical peel facial treatment.

At Zolie Skin Clinic our trained aestheticians provide you various chemicals peel options which can be applied on your face, neck or hands depending upon your particular requirements. This treatment can also be customized to give you the best results. Our dermatologists first examine your skin (the area which needs to be treated) and then suggest and discuss with you the different chemical peel treatments available to help you get rid of your skin problems. As already said, we use different chemicals for treating different patients depending on the needs of their skin. Also, the chemical peels can be categorized in three different levels.

Superficial Chemical Peels

The unofficial name of superficial chemical peels is lunch-time peel. You must be wondering why! The answer is because it is a quick treatment for slightly rough and discoloured skin which is usually carried out by applying alpha-hydroxy acid. Sometimes, other such mild products/acids can also be used. These are called superficial because they can’t penetrate deep into your skin and work only by exfoliating the top layer of your skin. These peels help you get a fresh, bright and young skin.

Medium Chemical Peels

The Medium chemical peels can easily penetrate into the middle layer of the skin. We use glycolic acid or trichloroacetic acid for medium chemical peels. This is quite effective in eliminating fine lines, mild wrinkles, age spots, freckles, skin discoloration etc. The medium chemical peels are also used to get rid of actinic keratosis, a kind of precancerous skin growth. As the chemicals used are mild, the session can be repeated if the patient’s skin demands so.

Deep Chemical Peels

Deep chemical peels undoubtedly reach the dermal layers of the skin and enables spectacular transformations. The chemicals used in this peel are trichloroacetic acid or phenol etc. The repetition of deep chemical peels is not recommended by the dermatologists because the chemicals used are strong. You can use deep chemical peels to get rid of moderate wrinkles, scars and other such skin problems as the chemicals penetrate into the deeper skin layers to destroy the damaged skin cells and encourage the growth of new and younger skin cells. So, you can expect dramatic results with these kinds of peels.

First of all, it is imperative to understand if the chemical peel is an ideal treatment for your skin. You can first take appointment for a consultation session with a dermatologist to find out if chemical peels will be beneficial for you or not. Widely, chemical peels help ameliorating skin concerns such as:
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Age spots
  • Freckles
  • Sun tan/spots
  • Crow’s feet
  • Acne scars
  • Skin Pigmentation/discolouration

If you are dealing with any of the above skin problems, then you should definitely get in touch with an expert dermatologist and discuss it in detail. Why Men’s Skin Should Be Treated Differently Than Women’s Skin?

Do you know men have different skin than women? Do you know how it is different? Does your spouse use same cosmetic products as you? If yes, then you immediately need to ask them stop doing so. As a lay man, anybody would say that the difference between the skin of a man and a woman is facial hair. Yes, true. But there are so many other differences as well which we generally tend to ignore. If you’re interested in knowing more differences, then read on.

Thickness of Skin

There’s a structural difference between the male and female skin. You may already have observed that men have thicker skin than women, do you wonder why? That’s because of the stimulation of androgen, a testosterone which leads to a thick skin in men. There are so many other factors which affect the thickness of our skin such as age & the environment. The texture of men’s skin is tougher than women’s skin but various researches show that with age men’s skin gets thinner as compared to women’s skin. It’s only after menopause that the women’s skin starts becoming thin.

Production of Sebum

Because of the hormonal differences, the amount of sebum production in men and women is different. Sebum, which is main cause for acne, is produced in large amounts in men. The androgen secretion during/after puberty is the reason why acne last longer in men.

Skin Texture

Men’s skin texture become rough due to more hair. This also causes large pores; therefore,Dr. Nirupama Parwanda suggests men should use skin care products which can be instantly absorbed by the skin. As you know that men also have more oily skin than women, it is suggested to use skin care products which help in controlling the sebum production which can ultimately help you in reducing acne. I hope you now understand why you shouldn’t be using same skin care products as your spouse!

Density of Collagen

The high density of collagen in men irrespective of age is the reason why there are less signs of aging such as age spots and wrinkles in men as compared to that in women. As we age, the production of collagen reduces, which results in the signs of aging. So, it’s usually after the menopause that the process of aging becomes faster and that’s why at this stage, women should develop a healthy skin care regimen to lessen the effects of aging on their skin. But, men’s skin is easily damaged from Sun’s UV rays, so please do not think that it’s only women who need to apply sun block on regular basis.

Hydration

As you have now understood the structural differences between a man’s and a woman’s skin, you must understand that due to these differences they need different skin care regimen. Men have to deal with excessive hair growth and oily skin after puberty therefore the need for a deep cleanser arises. But women’s skin needs more hydrating moisturizers than men because of the presence of lactic acid in men.

While most of us believe Cost of Acne treatment in Delhi products are only made for women, now you must have understood that it is completely incorrect. Everyone, irrespective of their gender needs to take care of their skin. So, the knowledge of basic difference between a man’s and a woman’s skin is a great way to understand that their skin needs different care and treatments.

In most of the cases, men don’t use a facial cleanser or a sun block which is really really necessary if you want to keep your skin young and healthy. And the skin products that need to be paid more attention by ladies are – anti aging products, as their skin ages faster.

Types of Acne and How to Get Rid of Them with Acne Treatment

The problem of acne is something that everyone of us has to face. The reasons can be different from individual to individual and it is not compulsory that you’ll only have acne during teenage. Some people don’t have to deal with this problem during teenage and acne may breakout during adulthood. So, in simple words there are many types of acne or pimples and that’s why there are different types of acne scars treatments in Delhi for each. The reason for acne can be as simple as your skin type or some kind of hormonal imbalance or other unhygienic conditions. When Sebaceous glands are overactive you get a breakout. Generally face, back, chest and shoulders are more prone to acne as compared to other body parts. It is advised that you do not try and apply cosmetics that you see in advertisements to prevent or get rid of acne. There are many reasons we say that. Most of the cosmetics are not meant for all skin types and sometimes you might not even know what type of acne you’re dealing with, in which case you may get skin irritation or redness and so serious damage to your skin.

Blackheads are one of the most common types of acne for people with oily skin. Unlike other types of acne, blackheads aren’t caused by bacteria but because of the oxidation of the clogged pores. Blackheads generally occur on the nose and sometimes on the forehead and chin. Excess of blackheads should be given medical attention and should be treated with retinol.

Whiteheads are somewhat like pimples and have white bumps. BHA products help get rid of whiteheads but sometimes you need to seek help of a dermatologist to remove them.

Papules are mild type of pimples which is pinkish red and filled with a fluid. Products containing Benzoyl Peroxide and Saliency Acid can cure papules.

Pustules are swollen pimples and large in size than papules. These can occur on face, shoulders, back, neck, underarms, pubic area and hairline. These are common in teens and can be treated with maintaining hygiene to prevent excess of oil and if the problem is severe OTC (over-the-counter) medications are prescribed as they dry out the upper skin layer and again removes excess oil.

Cysts are the severe type of acne and are the most difficult to treat. Cysts need to be treated as they leave scars. So, it is imperative to visit a dermatologist to consult them and receive proper medical treatment.

Here are some preventive measures for breakdown of acne:

1. If you have an oily skin, we recommend that you cleanse-tone-moisturise your face twice a day.
2. Avoid cosmetics that are oil based. You can use face gels rather than creams.
3. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables instead of oily and junk foods.
4. Don’t take stress.
5. Exercise daily and take shower later to get rid of sweat.
